Three Legged Warrior

This is Blacky our 3 legged warrior before he met with an accident. The accident happened on the road outside our apartment building. I didn't see the actual accident but heard the details from the eyewitness. It seems that Blacky was sleeping a little bit away from the road on the footpath when a taxi veered away from the road and onto the footpath and hit Blacky. The reason for the Taxi going off the road and onto the footpath is still not clear, some people say it was done for fun !!!

Blacky was injured badly and went and hid in the tea stall nearby. I got to know about the accident when i went out on my regular feeding round at night. With the help of the watchman, I took Blacky inside my house and kept him there till the Vet came. The treatment went on for quite a while and Blacky recovered from the trauma but his right front leg didn't heal.

When after trying everything his leg didn't show any signs of healing I had to take him to Animal Aid Hospital. I didn't take him earlier since this hospital is almost 150 km from my home and I make this effort only if all local treatment fail. In the hospital, the doctors decided to amputate his leg since it was in a very bad condition.

Blacky was with Animal Aid for 3 weeks till he fully recovered from the operation. They did the operation for free and the only expense I had to bear was for petrol (taking Blacky to Animal Aid and bringing him back).

This is Blacky today sitting with my Pet in our garden. Our 3 Legged warrior has finally won the battle against his injuries and hopefully, this was the last of his battles.

I would like to thank Animal Aid for treating Blacky and looking after him for 3 weeks without any charge. They are doing a very good job now and with our support, they can do an even better job.

The Unusual Friends

Recently my pet started tolerating another animal. Which came as a surprise to me as well because till now he used to always chase away this guy's relatives. But for some reason, he is ok with this furry fellow.

Even the cat is not at all scared of my pet, in fact whenever we come out of the house and into the garden this fellow appears and follows my per everywhere.

Watch the below video to see these guys strolling together and the cat following my pet everywhere.

Stray Dog's Injury Treatment Natural Remedy

Recently, I noticed that one of the strays that I feed every day has an injury on his neck, I don't know how it happened or for how long he has had it. I feed these guys after 10 pm (so that the general public doesn't get disturbed), I didn't notice this injury in the dark.

I applied a little bit of eucalyptus oil on the injury for the next three days. The first and second day he didn't react much, but on the third day, he made it a little difficult for me to apply the oil. Fourth day onwards he kept running away from me whenever I came to apply the oil. After that, I had to travel and so didn't get to apply the oil for another 1 week. I was worried that his injury might have gotten worse because of this delay and also this is the first time I was trying this natural remedy.

This is what I saw 1 week after applying eucalyptus oil on his injury.

His wound had dried and healed. I was very happy with this result because, in the past, my experiences with treating such injuries have not been very pleasant. Especially when I am not able to treat the open wound continuously without any breaks. This is the first time that, after only 3 days treatment the wound has healed by itself.
It is very difficult to treat stray animals since they do not realise that we are trying to help them and not harm them. Another plus point of applying this oil on stray animals is that it does not burn or sting at first application. It gradually does its work, so it becomes easy to apply this on the stray animal. This oil is very effective even if you apply it on the injury once or twice.

This oil is available in any chemist store or general store. If you purchase the concentrated version then be sure to mix some water to the concentrated solution before applying. I purchased from amazon and received this non-concentrated version, which is not too expensive and also ready to apply without adding any more water.

Anyone trying out this remedy can comment about their experience after applying this natural remedy.

My Stray Animal Friends

If you are not able to make donations to Animal Welfare Organisations, or unable to volunteer in these Organisations, you can also get mental satisfaction by feeding the stray dogs or cattle in your area. You can divide your garbage into two separate packets. One packet can be for non-edible waste (plastic bottles, polythene bags, cans etc)  and the other packet can contain edible waste (vegetable and fruit peels,  leftovers etc) that the animals can consume.

What I have been doing for the past 15 years is feeding my Neighborhood Stray Dogs and also Spaying (neutering) them so that the population of Stray Dogs does not go out of Control. The photos are of my Stray Dogs that have been with me for the past 5 years. Let me share some of the Photos and my Experiences with them :

These 7 little puppies are the latest addition to my growing family. 4 Female Puppies and 3 Male Puppies. At present (08/01/2016) they are 40 days old and I am looking for good homes to settle them. Since the puppies look nice and healthy, people are ready to adopt them. I take their Photo and then place an Advertisement on Quikr.com

Quikr is much better than Olx since Quikr allows Pet Adoption Ads whereas Olx forces you to only Sell your Pets, even if you want to give them away for Free. Also Olx stubbornly does not want to change this silly feature.

These two are the Alpha and Beta of the pack and as usual, busy eating Pedigree.

These two Guys are brothers and the Gal is their friend. Nowadays in India with all the modernization and tractors plowing the fields, the Male Calf is separated from the Mother at a very early age and is left on the street to look after himself. These 2 Calves are very gentle and loving, they don't mind anyone petting them. Many of the Local Shopkeepers and the Vegetable Vendors feed them along with me, but it is a challenge feeding them and at the same time keeping their Larger family members at bay.

These two are not the only Male Calves that have been abandoned, there are quite a few of them over here. I want to feed them all, but right now it is not possible for me. Hopefully one day I will be able to feed everyone so that no living creature goes to sleep hungry. Below are photos of Stray Dogs that I had been feeding earlier. At present they are all adopted.

These photos are of 2015 batch of Stray dog puppies; found good homes for them in Ahmedabad through Quikr.com

These are my Feline friends, who used to earlier feast on the leftovers of their Stray dog buddies but nowadays get their separate share of Milk and Pedigree.

I will keep updating this post as an when new members join my Strays Club, till then
remember to divide your garbage into two separate packets. One packet can be
for non-edible waste (plastic bottles, polythene bags, cans etc)  and the other
packet can contain edible waste (vegetable and fruit peels,  leftovers etc) that the
animals can consume. This small step by everyone can help fill the stomachs of a
 lot of Stray animals.
